18) On September 28th, 2004 the third runway of the Barcelona airport is officially inaugurated

On September 28th, 2004, the Minister of ‘Fomento’ (Magdalena Álvarez), together with the President of AENA (Manuel Azuaga), presided the official opening of the third runway of El Prat airport.

The following people attended this grand opening:
- Pasqual Maragall (President of the ‘Generalitat’) (PSC)
- Joaquim Nadal (Minister of Territorial Politics of the Autonomous Government) (PSC)
- Celestino Corbacho (President of the ‘Diputación de Barcelona’ –county council-) (PSC)
- Joan Clos (Mayor of Barcelona) (PSC)
- Lluís Tejedor (Mayor of El Prat de Llobregat) (ICV)
